Sanitization certification and training
With businesses beginning to return to normal, it can be daunting choosing a company that cleans and sanitizes your business space before re-opening. It’s important to work with companies whose employees have specific sanitization certification and training to ensure that your facility is sanitized and disinfected properly in order to keep your employees and patrons safe. There are many different certifications a company can have, so we’ve broken some of them down for you!
ISSA is the leading trade association for the cleaning industry worldwide. Their Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) is one of the most recognized education and certification providers in the professional cleaning industry. Since its founding in 1964, CMI’s third-party training has certified more than 250,000 individuals worldwide and furthered the education and development of cleaning and maintenance professionals, managers, supervisors, and executives. With specialized certifications for cleaning service professionals in a wide variety of fields, including schools, healthcare facilities, manufacturing plants and more, a certification from ISSA means the company has spent the time and money training their employees above and beyond the typical cleaning professionals’ level.
The International Janitorial Cleaning Services Association has a number of certifications cleaning professionals can get. Look for companies that have employees who have received the IJCSA Masters-Level Certification. This certification validates the deepest level of cleaning and janitorial expertise, as well as the ability to design and build the most innovative solutions for clean building standards, off-premise cleaning situations, while ensuring environmental protection by using IJCSA technologies and training. Professionals need to complete all of the certifications offered by ISJA before getting this one.
If you work in any type of medical environment, you know how important sanitizing and disinfecting is. Many cleaning companies specialize in medical facilities, but it’s even more important that their employees have the specific knowledge needed for sanitizing a medical space. The Certified HealthCare Environmental Services Technician (CHEST) from the Association for the Healthcare Environment offers a new certification for environmental services frontline workers. It was established using a comprehensive nationwide job analysis of a healthcare environmental services technician’s responsibilities and defined focus groups. The program covers all aspects of a frontline worker’s typical tasks and accountabilities. Content for the certification includes instruction on infection control and prevention, cleaning patient rooms, common areas and more.

Unfortunately, cleaning and disinfecting companies can have every certification in the book and there will still be room for human error. That’s where Tulu comes in. Our remote workforce management system allows for remote supervision and live auditing to ensure workforces free of human error, while still putting people first. Supervisors can let cleaners know in real-time if a spot has been missed or an area needs special attention. Once the company has finished, anyone can scan our QR code decals to get important data and video proof of the space they’re in being cleaned and sanitized. Tulu believes in the combination of people and tech, something we like to call our HumanOS.
